🪔 About Sakat Chauth

There was once a potter whose clay pots would not harden in the firing kiln. When he approached the king, the royal Pandit declared that the only solution was to sacrifice a child whenever the kiln was used.

Upon hearing this, an old woman feared losing her only son. She handed the child a betel nut for protection, and as he sat on the kiln, she prayed fervently to Goddess Sakat. Devi Sakat saved him with her merciful compassion and brought all the other sacrificed children back to life.

On Sakat Chauth, mothers pray to this most divine form of Ma for their children's well-being and protection. They also invoke Sri Ganesh, the Remover of Obstacles, so that he may keep their children out of harm's way.
