🪔 About Onam

The young Brahmin avatar of Lord Vishnu, Lord Vaaman, appeared on this day.

At Vaaman's request, Asura King Mahabali once granted him three footsteps' worth of land. Lord Vaaman immediately assumed a gigantic form and covered Mahabali's kingdom, the Earth, and the sky in two steps. Mahabali, the grandson of Lord Vishnu's greatest devotee, Prahlad, humbly offered his head for the third step.

Pleased, Lord Vaaman accepted his devotion. The state of Kerala celebrates this significant occasion as Onam.

Invoke the All-Pervading Lord Vishnu on this blessed day.
