🪔 About Magh Bihu
Magh Bihu is a harvest festival celebrated in Assam. Associated with communal feasts and bonfires, Bihu marks the end of the harvesting season in the region.
The day before Magha Bihu is 'Uruka', when people erect makeshift bamboo-and-leaf huts called 'Meji.' They prepare food inside the Meji, and hold a communal feast on Uruka night.
The Meji is burned the following morning, and the ashes are scattered around the farmlands to increase fertility.
Magh Bihu is dedicated to Agnidev, the Lord of Fire. On this auspicious day, invoke the blazing light of Lord Surya (the Sun God)—the most powerful aspect of Agnidev.
